North Lanarkshire’s Modern Apprenticeship Programme provides Training opportunities in over 16 frameworks to those between 16-24 (16-29 if applicant has a disability or care experienced) and living within North Lanarkshire.
The Modern Apprenticeship programme provides young people the opportunity for paid work experience within a NLC establishment whilst gaining an SVQ qualification within that chosen subject.
Many of their successful MAs become full time employees within North Lanarkshire. This example can be found in SVQ3 Business & Administration MA, Miss Susan McLeod. Susan was drawn to the programme “as I felt this was a better route to gain both a qualification and experience at the same time.”
She has proven to become a valued member of her team within Education, Youth and Communities, gaining new and developing existing skills. Susan is now a full time permanent member of North Lanarkshire workforce after her successful interview.
Speaking about her new job, Susan said: “I highly recommend this programme and think this is a great first step to progress within a career.” The programme provides young people with an opportunity to experience the world of work whilst gaining a qualification and also paid at the same time.
