Pitch Perfect 3, starring: Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Elisabeth Banks, release Date: December 22
Who’s up for one last hurrah with our favourite a capella group? Okay, we all know nothing’s ever going to live up to the first one but this finale is set to go out with a bang.
The girls reunite to play for US troops in Europe in a desperate attempt to prove they’ve got one more high note left.
But, let’s be honest, we’re not here for the plot. What we all love about Pitch Perfect is the toe-tapping music, the fun-loving girls we’ve bonded with over the years and – of course – Fat Amy.
And this film, although not winning an Oscar any time soon, is set to have all that. Grab your imaginary microphone and sing along with our girls for one last time.
Molly’s Game, starring: Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, release Date: December 26
Here we follow the true story of Molly Bloom, a young woman who lead the world’s most notorious poker game for ten years. This edgy, badass drama will take us through her FBI arrest and the following court case. With Aaron Sorkin directing – the genius screenwriter behind The West Wing and The Social Network – this is sure to be a hard-hitting yet elegant portrayal of not only the difficulties for women in breaking the ‘glass ceiling’ but also how that relates to organised crime.
Jessica Chastain’s performance of a complex woman will not only get you wrapped up in the equally complex plot but also get you thinking. Expect late night poker games, a lot of pent up rage and striking stares.
